Blog No. 5 – Sanya Vacation

Happy New Year to everyone. We can’t believe it is already 2008. We hope everyone had a great holiday.

The Chinese do not usually celebrate Christmas, but there were some Christmas decorations hung up around the city. So to get into the holiday spirit, we bought a small artificial Christmas tree and made a gingerbread house. Santa Claus even visited us in China! He looked a little different than the American Santa Claus. He was Asian and thin. But he still had a grey beard and wore a red suit and hat.

Over Christmas, we took a vacation to Sanya, China. It is on a small island just south of mainland China. It is considered the “Hawaii” of China because it has a tropical climate, lush vegetation, and blue water and sky. The resort was beautiful and very family friendly. It had a huge kid’s pool with a slide, kid’s playroom, and bouncy house. Quinlan and Brennan had a great time. We got to swim and relax by the pool or beach everyday. It was great to get away from the hustle and bustle city life of Shanghai.
