Downtown Hong Kong Disney

Blog No. 11 – Hong Kong

April was a big travel month for us. The first city we visited was Hong Kong. Hong Kong reminded us of a large San Francisco. It is a dense, international city with many tall high-rises, but unlike Shanghai, it is surrounded by lush green hills and beautiful blue water.

Our three day weekend was packed with many activities. The first day we took a ferry from Central to Hong Kong Island. We visited some expat friends who live in Repulse Bay and ate dinner with them at Stanley Market. The next day we rode the metro and took the kids to Hong Kong Disney. It wasn’t as big as the one in Anaheim, but the good news was that it wasn’t crowded at all. So we were able to go on many rides. There wasn’t even a line at Space Mountain! Later that night, we saw the famous light show from the harbor while we ate sushi. Our last day concluded with a trip to Victoria Peak where we got a bird’s eye view of Hong Kong.

We traveled back down the steep peak on a cable car that drove at a 45 degree angle. We were so impressed with Hong Kong that we wouldn’t mind living there after Shanghai!
